Getting started with OSF (Open Science Framework)

Getting started with OSF (Open Science Framework) Online

Join your VU colleagues for a two-hour ONLINE course in the tool Open Science Framework (OSF). The course will be lead by OSF developers from the United States.

The course will be Thursday, June 23, 14:00 – 16:00 ONLINE

What is expected?

This is a hands-on course to get started with OSF. You won’t need any experience with the tool beforehand.

What is OSF?

The OSF is an open-source project management tool that supports researchers throughout their entire project lifecycle. As a collaboration tool, OSF helps research teams work on projects privately or make the whole project publicly accessible for broad dissemination. As a workflow system, OSF enables connections to the many scientific tools researchers already use, streamlining their process and increasing efficiency. You may even use OSF as a portfolio tool for sharing your work as a prepublication with potential collaborators.

You can check out OSF at https://osf.io/ and sign in via institution with your VUnetID

OSF is already in use by multiple researchers at the VU, for example, by Rene Bekkers: https://osf.io/2zmga/ .

You can also watch back the presentations about OSF by Jacek Buczny and Anita Eerland.

Who should attend?

The course is organized for researchers and support staff working at the VU. You might find it useful if you are looking for new ways to organize your work, collaborate with colleagues, and share your research data or outputs.

The intend of the course is to make you OSF advocates, who spread enthusiasm and know-how about OSF to their colleagues at the faculty. You don’t have to become an advocate right away; you can also just attend the course to get familiar with OSF.
