Seminar: How to publish a world-class paper - everything you've always wanted to know about scientific publishing In-Person

When publishing an article, there are many aspects to consider, such as defining your audience, selecting a journal, and dealing with reviewers, editors, and publishers. But how do you go about this once you've written your article? Join the seminar to receive advice from experts in the field. Several experienced scientist and a publisher will shed light on the entire publication process and address the questions that novice authors may encounter. They discuss how to best prepare yourself and how to write and submit a high-quality scientific manuscript.

14.35 Supporting researchers before, during and after publication – Dr. Hilde van Wijngaarden, director of the VU University Library.
Van Wijngaarden explains how the University Library can assist researchers. Research Intelligence provides insights into which titles have the most significant impact on their publication, both scientifically and socially.
14.45 How to write an effective paper Dr. Peter Bloem, assistant professor at the Learning & Reasoning Group (VU).
Bloem has accumulated a considerable number of publications under his name, but that didn't happen overnight. In his presentation, he shares his own experiences with publishing his research as a novice researcher.
15.25 The perspective and the role of the publisher in scientific publishing – Dr. Paul Roos, Editorial Director Biomedicine at Springer Nature. 
Publishers play a crucial role in the publication of research. Roos explains what happens behind the scenes with your paper, from submission to publication.

16.20 Publishing from a reviewer's perspective – Prof. Dr. Paul van Lange, Professor of Psychology (VU).
Editors and reviewers are the gatekeepers of a journal. Van Lange has extensive experience in that role. He discusses how editors assess the articles they need to evaluate and how authors can best handle reviewer feedback.
