Basic principles of Literature searching - Academic skills, module 1 Online
Get a jump start on your research projects by learning the basic concepts of literature search during this workshop. You will learn what to look for when searching for (academic) information online, how to assess the value of a source, and in what ways "biases" can influence method and interpretations. This beginner's course is a must for anyone without any knowledge of academic literature. Description: this is an entry-level workshop. A logical follow-up is Module 2, where you will learn to set up a search strategy.
You will learn to:
• make reasoned choices when searching for information;
• recognize the values of (academic) information;
• formulate an informed opinion about the accessibility of information to the public;
• think about how your own biases can influence method and interpretation.
Already familiar with the basics of literature review? Then consider Module 2 (setting up search strategy) or Module 3 (reflecting and improving your strategy) for more in-depth information and advice.
